Father’s Day tribute. Stunning. And a Little Sad.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, I thought this was perfect. Twelve years ago, filmmaker Frans Hofmeester embarked on the greatest work of his life: becoming a dad. Every week, the Dutch video artist would hover over his newborn daughter Lotte’s crib and capture stills. Those weekly photo shoots continued, even as Lotte began sitting upright, her features growing more defined by the day.

The end result? This video. Stunning. And a little sad. These years go by so quickly. I wish I could hit the pause button. But alas, all of us must float on the river of time, but today, while my kids are young, I’ll hug them just a bit harder. Happy Father’s Day!
